Deep Myofascial Therapy
Service Description
During myofascial release therapy, the therapist locates myofascial areas that feel stiff and fixed instead of elastic and movable under light manual pressure. These areas, though not always near what feels like the source of pain, can restrict muscle and joint movements, which contributes to widespread muscle pain. Often confused with a firm pressure during other forms of massage, the true purpose of deep tissue therapy is to affect the deepest layer of musculature and connective tissue. This therapy is very slow-paced, using deep strokes across the muscle grain. The focused manual pressure and stretching used in myofascial release therapy will loosen up restricted movement, leading indirectly to reduced pain.
